Happy Friday, everyone! We don't know about you, but we are so happy the weekend is finally here. This past week has been crazy with classes and organization fairs... but the best part was getting our sweet new members on Sunday! Bid day was a blast - the girls that planned it did such a great job with our fun activities and yummy food! We are so thrilled to have 119 girls join our chapter and cannot wait to see what the future holds for them.
As we get into the hang of things these next few weeks, we wanted to share a few of our favorite activities that we like to do around Columbia with our sisters (hint hint these are also fun things you can do with your Phi's this weekend and throughout the next few weeks)!
1. Farmers Market
One of Columbia's best kept secrets is Soda City on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm. From jewelry to groceries, you will always find something that you love and it's honestly the best place for cute Instagram and VSCO photos! Go grab yourself a bouquet of flowers and coffee and we will see you there Saturday!
2. Pelican's Snoballs
One place in particular that we all look forward to going to is Pelicans. It's so cheap and delicious... you will never regret going here for a late night treat. People also bring their dogs here so you can get snow cones and some puppy love... how great is that?!
3. Columbia Zoo
You can never go wrong visiting the Columbia Zoo. It includes a garden (aka the best photo opt ever) , an aquarium, and typical zoo exhibits that you can spend all day at! If you get there between 10am and 1:30pm, you can feed the cute lil giraffes which is also a great photo opportunity (all about the Insta game here)!
If you're more of an outdoorsy/athletic kind of girl, the Columbia Riverwalk is perfect! It passes under two bridges and has some amazing river views. There are picnic tables if you want to bring lunch, a riverside amphitheater, and a canoe launch bay. For more information, you can visit http://www.sciway.net/sc-photos/richland-county/three-rivers-greenway.html.
5. Music Farm
The Music Farm always has bands playing on the weekend including Moon Taxi, Third Eye Blind, and Aaron Carter who is coming in October! And ~fun fact~ we are having Bonnamu there on September 20, 5 - 9pm! Bonnamu benefits our local Children's Miracle Network Hospital, Palmetto Health. On top of that, we will have great music and food there! All are welcome and we encourage you to come!
There are so many more enjoyable things to do in Columbia, and these are only a few of our favorites! We can't wait for this year to come, and hope you are able to join us!
