Dressed in your recruitment t-shirt and matching shorts, you walk into a room filled with thousands of eager girls ready to find the “perfect” sorority. Once seated, you are handed a nametag and whisked off to meet your Pi Chis. Confused and nervous, you introduce yourself and meet the girls that will have your back throughout one of the biggest weeks of your life. Now, the list of houses is in your trembling hands and you don’t know whether to be excited or anxious. One of the biggest pieces of advice I have for you is enjoy the experience while making memories. Of course not knowing what is happening next is terrifying, but surprises are the best treat!
While you are analyzing every facial feature and staring in the mirror, know that your future sisters won’t care about your freckles or sweaty forehead. Just be you! Everyone has a certain style and that’s what makes having sisters the most fun when you can steal clothes and take cute pictures.
When you have visited the first round of houses and have your heart set on one in particular, keep your mind open to them all! After only one or two rounds, you may not have truly discovered the best pick for you. Once you get to spend more time in each house, your perspective will broaden and you will build bonds with potential sisters.
One of my last pieces of advice is a phrase that is continuously repeated but cannot be stated any other way. When going through the process of recruitment, trust the system! Have an open mind when beginning the process because your perceptions of where you fit in may completely be off. The girls you will talk to and meet with are trained to know the best fit for you and only you!
