One aspect of Phi Mu that I absolutely adore is our sisterhood events, and this past Thursday, we had one called “Roll Back to the 80’s” at a nearby rollerskating rink! Sisters dressed up in their finest leotards and scrunchies, laced up their rental skates, and had an amazing time.
Going into the event I was super nervous, mostly because whenever I’ve tried to skateboard/rollerblade/ski/snowboard I spend most of my time face first on the ground. After a lot of hesitation on my part and encouragement from my sisters, I finally put on my skates.
It took me about 30 minutes to make it around the rink one time on my own, and one of my best friends holding my hand the entire time, but I had an absolute blast. We all laughed, fell, and formed a conga line together. I’ve always known that my sisters will support me when the going gets tough, and after literally clinging to them for support for an hour and a half, I can say with absolute certainty that I can count on every single one of my sisters for encouragement and support.
Sisterhood events, like this one, have helped to create many of my favorite memories since I’ve joined Phi Mu, and I can’t wait for many more to come!
