I chose Phi Mu for countless reasons. My main influence, though, was because I really clicked with a girl who I talked to during recruitment, who later became my big. We shared similar interests, qualities, and stories during recruitment. The connection and bond we immediately had was something that showed me what sisterhood is. She led me to fall in love was Phi Mu, and quickly became my role model. Looking back to last year, without her I honestly don’t know if I would have joined a sorority. Going through recruitment was a such an exciting, stressful, and intense process. I was often overwhelmed and unsure I was making the right choices in picking a sorority, but because of her and the love I felt from the chapter as a whole, I knew I was making the right choice. After choosing Phi Mu and being a sister for almost two years now, I could not see myself anywhere else.
I originally pledged Phi Mu at the school I attended last year, the College of Charleston. As I transferred to the University of South Carolina this past year and affiliated with Phi Mu here, I was blessed to meet even more amazing sisters and was given the opportunity to develop true, lifelong friendships. I don’t think I would be able to function in college and be where I am today without the support of my sisters. Because of Phi Mu I will forever have true and lasting friendships with girls that will always be there for me no matter what, and that, I think, is priceless. Phi Mu has impacted my college experience and life immensely, and I will forever be grateful for all the experiences and bonds it has allowed me.
