This year Dance Marathon raised a record breaking $527,810 for the kids!
If you ask our sisters about their favorite part of Phi Mu, odds are you will hear something about our philanthropy. Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is our national philanthropy and our chapter is lucky enough to have Palmetto Health Children's Hospital, a CMNH hospital, right here in Columbia! Each year we fundraise for the local children’s hospital through our battle of the bands called Bonnamu and we visit the hospital each week to volunteer with the kids. Since we are so close with our philanthropy, one of the highlights of the year for us is Dance Marathon.
Dance Marathon the largest student organization on our campus and one very near and dear to our hearts. Participants dance for 14 hours straight and raise money for our local CMNH hospital. The kids from the hospital come to play and tell their stories. It’s a time to fall in love with CMNH, raise awareness, and actually make a difference. This year Dance Marathon raised a record breaking $527,810 for the kids!
Our girls look forward to this all year and many of them even serve on the Morale Team and Exec Board for Dance Marathon. Between our dancers and our morale and exec team members, Phi Mu raised over $90,000 this year for the kids! We were even honored to have our sister Jenny Wilkins be named Head Morale and get to lead the whole event!
This year Dance Marathon tried to focus on “the why” and what motivates everyone to participate. If you ask our sisters why they DM, you’ll hear stories that will make you laugh, cry, and everything in between. One thing you’ll definitely hear is that we just can’t wait to do it again next year!
